There are so many things about this that make me sad; being a woman, being Polish, and living in a world where I thought we were beyond this kind of thinking.
Women in Poland have been striking the new government's harsh anti-abortion laws, which last week past a key vote in Parliament. If the law goes through it will make almost any instance of abortion illegal in the country.
It sickens and saddens me that this government is trying to take away the rights to women's bodies. Why waste their energy on matters like this? What makes it OK to make a decision over someone else's life and body?
I'm sad and ashamed that Poland is regressing. I feel like some many of us in Poland and outside of it have seen so much exciting development in the country's economy and culture and to be at this junction is seriously disturbing.
